Captain Eric Cordina
Training Manager
Eric brings his vast airline experience and a structured approach to the training of Skyfirst flight crews. Training at Skyfirst involves initial aircraft type training and annual recurrent training. Simulator training goes beyond the standard by carefully preparing simulator sessions to improve pilot proficiency and efficiency. Pilots receive supplemental training for approaches in low-visibility operations, including the use of Head-Up Display (HUD) and (Enhanced Flight Visual System(EFVS). Coupled with additional training for steep approaches and specific airports, this allows flight crew to be able to fly to more airports in all kinds of weather, a distinct benefit to Skyfirst customers.
Skyfirst conducts formalized exchanges of pilot experience and operational information as a way sharing and expanding flight crew knowledge.
Eric had a distinguished 31-year career at Air Malta and later KM Malta Airlines, progressing from trainee cadet to the Director of Crew Training role for the airline. He flew multiple aircraft, including the Airbus A320 and is also a Type Rating Instructor (TRI) and Examiner (TRE). He also served for three years as a lecturer at the University of Malta on fleet management.
He attended St. Edwards College in Malta and later obtained a Master of Science in Air Transport Management from City St George’s, University of London.
The training position also involves an oversight role to ensure industry best practices and regulatory requirements are being followed at all times.
