Alexej Nachtigal

Chief Pilot

Alexej Nachtigal, represents the kind of leadership aircraft owners value most: strong judgment, well-rounded flying experience, a commitment to training, and an ethos of leading by example.

Alexej developed these skills over 20 years in the German Air Force. He flew the Tornado fighter  in his first operational role, and was recognized not only for his flying skills, but his ability to teach and mentor others. As a result, he was recruited by another NATO member, Canada, to train Canadian and other NATO pilots on the British Hawk, the first step to more advanced jet aircraft.  Alexej helped shape the training organization in a management role and developed leadership and organizational skills.

Retiring from military flying in 2017, he joined a European charter company, flying the Embraer Legacy and then the Falcon 7X. When that company merged and standardized on another aircraft brand, Skyfirst was fortunate to meet and recruit Alexej.

Today, when not in the office, he is on the flight deck of a 7X or 8X, as captain and training supervisor. In this role he advances the talents of first officers and captains alike. Alexej’s leadership of the flight department helps to retain top talent, provide a growth path for more junior pilots, and assure the highest standards on the flight deck at all times.
